Photo & Testimonial Contest

2020 Supportive Living Photo & Testimonial Contest

Each year, we look forward to the launch of our Photo & Testimonial Contest. We receive hundreds of photos capturing the true essence of what Supportive Living is all about. We hear stories of what Supportive Living means to residents and family members.  We see the success of Supportive Living in the photos of friends laughing, sharing special moments, playing games and living a healthy, active life. Each entry we receive should demonstrate the important role Supportive Living plays in the lives of Illinois’ seniors and individuals with disabilities while reinforcing what we have always known: Supportive Living = Healthy & Happy Living.

This year, we have all had to adjust our lives due to COVID-19, so your activities and photos may take on a different look than in past years. You’ve created new activities and ways to make your residents smile and feel included in their community.

2020 Testimonial Contest Winners

1st Place - Jan Kinman

Grand Prairie of Macomb

When I first made my move to Grand Prairie I was recovering from an illness. All the staff was and continue to be friendly and very encouraging. They encouraged me to partake in activities and it helped so much in my recovery. The Resident Services Coordinator asks what we want to do and is very good about coming up with fun and rewarding ideas. The whole staff at Grand Prairie has been great during the Covid-19 pandemic. They have been extremely helpful to get us through this difficult time.

2nd Place - Rosalia Rivera

Heritage Woods of Bolingbrook

Rosalia’s Motto: “The more you learn the better your feel!”  Rosalia has spent her life learning new crafts including painting, crocheting, embroidery, floral arranging, and gardening. At 86, Rosalia is full of energy and walks the halls and exercises daily so she can continue to do the things she loves.

3rd Place – Marcia Ybarra

Deer Path of Huntley

Marcia Ybarra stays very active at Deer Path of Huntley.  Being independent and making friends helped her adjust to her new lifestyle.  Her advice to anyone moving into Deer Path is, “make friends; don’t be in solitude; be kind to everyone; you’ll enjoy your own space; you’ll be treated well.”
