Education & Training

The success of the Supportive Living Program (SLP) depends on the knowledge and competence of staff within each community. AALC periodically offers continuing education courses and other training opportunities for professionals involved in SLP.

In partnership with Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Medicine, AALC hosts training programs that awards continuing education credits for social workers, professional/clinical counselors, clinical psychologists, nursing home administrators, and dietitian/nutrition counselors.

Recent topics include:

  • Infectious disease mitigation and prevention
  • Marketing strategies and techniques in the era of COVID-19
  • Ethics for health care leaders
  • Medicaid and managed care organizations (MCOs)

    CEU Information CEU is jointly provided by SIU School of Medicine and AALC.

    Credit
    SIU School of Medicine is preapproved as a continuing nursing education provider pursuant to Section 1300.130, subsection c), 1), B) and P) of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Nurse Practice Act.  Nurses may receive a maximum of 9 contact hours for completing this activity.

    SIU School of Medicine is a licensed provider for continuing education for nursing home administrators (license #139-000027), social workers (license #159-000106), clinical psychologists (license #268-000008), professional counselors/clinical counselors (license #197-000073) and dietitians/nutrition counselors (license #199-000121).  This program offers a maximum of 7 CE hours.

    All other attendees will receive a Certificate of Participation.
