2021 Photo & Testimonial Contest WINNERS!

About AALC’s 2021 Photo & Testimonial Contest

Each year, we look forward to the launch of our Photo & Testimonial Contest. We receive hundreds of photos capturing the true essence of what Supportive Living (SL) is all about. This year's entries demonstrated the important role SL plays in the lives of Illinois’ seniors and individuals with disabilities and reinforces what we’ve always known: Supportive Living = Healthy Living.

This year, help AALC communities showcased how Supportive Living has taken positive steps throughout the pandemic to ensure our seniors and individuals with disabilities have the support they need to live healthy and fulfilling lives.

Quote by Sue Chapman, Alden Gardens of Blooomingdale
“It was very hard not seeing mother during the pandemic.  I really missed her.  I was excited to hear about window visits.  We used headsets to talk to each other.  My mother smiled a lot.  We talked for a while.  She smiled a lot and was happy to see me!”

Jill Huhn, Deer Path of Huntley
“Living at Deer Path has improved my physical and emotional well-being by involving me in various activities including exercise, Dungeons & Dragons, scratch art, book club and creative writing club.  I’ve met many great people in the seven years I've lived here and currently find myself to be absolutely thriving.”

Arthur O'Dell, Deer Path of Huntley
“Leading activities such as Dungeons & Dragons and other strategy games has enabled me to make new friends.  I am also an active member of the Resident Council.  Getting involved in the Deer Path community has been both enriching and fulfilling.”

Connie D., Grand Prairie of Macomb
I moved to Grand Prairie in August of 2018.The staff is always there to help if I need it. We have a lot of activities where I can interact with all the friends I have made since being here. The nursing staff is friendly and always willing to help. I am grateful how healthy the staff kept us during Covid-19. They went above and beyond in my opinion.”
